I've had some inquiries about how to hand pick related products on the product page so I thought I better write it up.
Vanity shows related products on the product page based on the following logic:
- It tries to find a collection called 'foo-related', where foo is the product handled (e.g http://getvanity.myshopify.com/products/classic-oval)
- If it doesn't find a specific collection for this product, it shows the other products in the same collection (e.g http://getvanity.myshopify.com/collections/frames/products/leather-frame)
- (since Sept 06, 2011) If there is no collection available, then it tries to find a collection with the same handle as the product type. This is useful if you get to a product page via a type filter or search result (e.g. http://getvanity.myshopify.com/products/leather-frame)
So if you had a product called "Funky Music" and wanted to hand pick the related products you would create a collection called "Funky Music Related" and add products to it (e.g. "White Boy").
