In this article we will walk through what types of booking notifications are available in BookThatApp, how and when they are sent, and how to customize the look and feel of the notifications.
Shopify Order Confirmation Email
Shopify automatically sends out an order confirmation email to a customer each time they place an order. The booking date and time is included in this template by default. You can customize these templates by following the instructions here.

Book That App Order Confirmation Email
In addition to the order confirmation sent by Shopify noted above, the app also supports sending a separate order notification direct from the app. You can enable this by going to the app admin and clicking on Settings and then Email/SMS and selecting "Yes" under Send New Booking Email.
BookThatApp Booking Reminder Emails/SMS
You can manually send a reminder via the Runsheet report, or by opening up the booking and clicking on the Send Reminder Button:
- From the overview calendar or Runsheet report, click on the Booking number to open the booking.
- Ensure there is a valid email address associated with the booking, or if sending via SMS check for a valid phone number.
- Click on the "Send Reminder" or "Send SMS" button.
The customer will then receive a notification with details of the booking. Please note that SMS notifications are only available to premium plan subscribers.
Automatic reminders are available for subscribers on the Premium Plan. Reminders can be scheduled before or after the booking starts or finishes.

Customizing Reminder Notifications
You can change the contents of the notifications by editing the 'Booking Reminder' email template (available under Configuration > Templates).
Subscribers on the premium plan can also create additional notification templates. This allows you to send a reminder for returning an item for example.
The app includes a template that can be used to generate tickets as a PDF file.
If you are on the Premium plan, the template can be customized to include a bar code or other specific information for your event. The ticket can also be attached to a booking reminder or included as part of the Shopify order notification.
