This article will walk you through pricing options available when using Shopify and BookThatApp.
1. Pricing based on rental duration
This option applies when you offer different rental periods and want to allow the customer to choose a set rental period. To set this up, create variants (in Shopify) for each duration. For example, you might set up the following variants:
-
4 Days = $50
-
8 Days = $75
On your online store, the customer will choose the duration first using variant options, then choose the starting date of the rental. You can install the product rental widget or Booking Form 1.
2. Daily Rate
This option is used when you charge a daily rate and you want the customer to choose the start and finish dates of their rental.
To configure this set the price of the product to represent a daily rate. Next, in BookThatApp, navigate to Settings-> Order Processing, and set "Date Range Updates Quantity?" to "Yes".
This method will calculate the price as the daily rate x the number of days selected in the date range.
You can install the product rental widget or Booking Form 2 when using this option.
3. Price Breaks Based on Rental Duration
You can also create price breaks based on the duration selected in a date range. Using this method you would set up your price breaks in Shopify using variants based on the duration. For example:
- 1-3 days = $10/day
- 4-6 days =$8/day
You can install the product rental widget or Booking Form 2 when using this option.
When configuring the product in BookThatApp select the Variant based Duration option, then select the Variants represent date range checkbox, and enter the corresponding day ranges for each price break.
At this point the configuration will allow you to charge a set price based on the date range selected.
ie. 1-3 days = $10 - any duration between 1 and 3 days costs $10 total
If you want to charge a per day rate based on the date range complete the next step.
ie. 1-3 days = $10/day - a duration of 1 day is $10, 2 days is $20, and 3 days would be $30
In the app admin navigate to Settings-> Order Processing, and set "Date Range Updates Quantity?" to "Yes"
Note: with either method you need to enable your theme's quantity selector on the product page. You can also enable it and hide it for a better customer experience.
