iCalendar (iCal) is a standard way to exchange calendar information between software systems. BookThatApp supports the ability to import bookings using iCal so that bookings made on other calendar apps will automatically appear in BookThatApp.
You can specify an iCal feed for products or resources. BookThatApp checks the external calendar for updates periodically (every hour).
Note: If you are using Google Calendar you can create a direct connection to the Google calendar. We recommend this approach as updates occur immediately.
If you offer a product that can be booked in the app as well as on an external site this will allow the product’s availability to be updated in the app. This saves you time because you will not need to create a manual booking or blackout to compensate for the external booking.
First, you will need to retrieve the iCal feed provided in the app by navigating within the product in BTA under "More Action> iCal, and then go to your external calendar to add the iCal so that when the product is booked on the external site the corresponding days will show as unavailable in your Shopify online store.
For instance, say you have a service provider that you have setup as a resource in the app. It is now possible for their busy time from their external calendar to be reflected in the app without creating corresponding staff account.
It will work by affecting the availability of the products the resource is associated with. This is great for stores that have a service provider that handles multiple services.
To implement this you will access the resource in the app via the Resource section and select the Settings tab. There you will be able to add the external calendar info.
