This page describes the seasonal rates feature in BookThatApp.
Overview
Seasonal rates are supported in BookThatApp by allowing merchants to set up different date ranges for seasons, and different rates within each season.
For example, imagine you are selling walking tours and want to charge more when it is peak tourist season. In BookThatApp you would create 2 season options - "High" and "Low". In addition, you want to charge differently based on ticket types. You can do this by creating 2 different rate options - "Adult" and "Child".
Caution: BookThatApp creates the corresponding variants in Shopify for each season/rate combination. Since Shopify is limited to 100 variants per product our seasonal rates feature will not work if you require more than 100 season/rate combinations.
Setting up seasonal rates
Ensure you are using a booking type that supports seasonal rates. Currently the Tour/Activity booking type is supported.
In your product configuration, navigate under Seasonal rate on the bottom right and hit enable.
To enable seasonal rates click the Enable button and tick the checkbox.
Options
Season option label and name: Enter what you would like to call the season (typically you can leave it as the default "Season") and the names for each the seasons (e.g. "Summer, Winter" or "High, Low").
Rate option label and options: Enter what you would like to call the name of the seasonal rate and the options are available for each rate. In the example above we have called the rate option "Ticket Type" with options "Adult" and "Child".
Preview
For each season/rate combination you are able to specify the date the season applies and the price that should be used.
Hint: scroll to the right in the preview area to see additional buttons for adding new dates for a season (plus symbol) or making the seasonal dates recurring (rounded arrow):
Hit Apply to update the rates, and finally Save to save the product configuration.
BookThatApp will then create/update Shopify product variants based on this seasonal rate matrix.
Here is how it looks in Shopify based on the above example:
And the variants:
When the customer chooses a date range the corresponding seasonal variant is used when adding the product to the cart. This is how the Activity widget looks in the storefront when you choose a date in the High season:
